Concern voiced over growing terrorist, communal activities
New Delhi, Dec 17: Cutting across party lines, members in Lok Sabha today voiced concern at the growing incidence of terrorism in the country, with some opposition parties asking government to check the hate campaign launched by Sangh Parivar outfits which had the potential of feeding terrorism.

Participating in a resumed discussion on the internal security situation, members also warned the government to be prepared to meet the emerging threat of terrorists using nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
Referring to reports about terrorists acquiring nuclear, chemical and biological weapons capabilities, Shivraj Patil (Cong) asked the government to "anticipate these threats, plan to combat them and be ready to implement the strategy when the time comes".
"These threats are more dangerous than an overt war then we know where the enemy is," Patil said, adding steps be taken to check the flow of funds to terrorist outfits.

Asking the government to ensure speedy developmental
activities to remove the feeling of alienation among people in
far-fetched areas, he asserted that religion should not be
used to achieve political ends.
"What kind of divisive forces are we unleashing in
society? We will have to blame only ourselves for this", he
said.
Stating that terrorist activities had increased in the past three years, Tarit Baran Topdar (CPI-M) asked the government to prevent VHP and Sangh Parivar leaders from
making communally volatile statements.
