Sipaeya, Sridhar set up summit clash in PSCB tennis
Kolkata, Feb 16: Second seed Sunil Kumar Sipaeya (IOC) and third seed Vinod Sridhar (ONGC) will vie for the men`s singles title of the 23rd PSPB inter-unit tennis tournament, organised by IBP Co. Limited, at the BTA Tennis Complex, Salt Lake, here today.
Kolkata, Feb 16: Second seed Sunil Kumar Sipaeya (IOC) and third seed Vinod Sridhar (ONGC) will vie for the men’s singles title of the 23rd PSPB inter-unit tennis tournament, organised by IBP Co. Limited, at the BTA Tennis Complex, Salt Lake, here today.
In the semifinals, Sunil Kumar eliminated fourth seed Vijay Kannan (ONGC) by 6/2,6/2. But ONGC challenge to the title was
kept alive by Vinod Sridhar, who disposed of unseeded Saurav Panja (IBP) 6/4,6/4 in the other match of the penultimate round.
It was a close encounter, but Panja could not have asked for more. Vijay Kannan, however, had some consolation as he in association with his ONGC teammate Ajay Ramaswami, the pair was seeded second, bagged the men s doubles crown at the expense of the IOC duo, Vasudeva Reddy and Prahlad Srinath. The ONGC pair won 7/6(7-4),7/5 in the finals.
