Even Vande Bharat And Rajdhani Make Way For This Train: Discover What Makes It So Special
Do you also think Vande Bharat and Rajdhani Express as India's VIP trains? But there's one train that takes priority over them. In India, when there’s a railway accident, the Indian Railways handles all rescue and relief efforts, unlike many countries where civil authorities take charge.
This special train is crucial for emergencies, ensuring that help arrives quickly and efficiently, highlighting the Indian Railways' commitment to safety and responsibility.
The Indian Railways has a well-organised system for handling accidents using its resources. When an accident occurs, the train’s guard or loco pilot reports it to the nearest station or control room. In response, the Indian Railways quickly sends out Accident Relief Trains and Accident Relief Medical Trains to provide help and medical assistance.
To ensure a quick response and provide medical help as soon as possible, the Indian Railways has introduced Self-Propelled Accident Relief Trains (SPART).
All Accident Relief Trains and Medical Vans have specific routes, inspection schedules, and response times to ensure they can act quickly. Additionally, the Indian Railways has 90 breakdown cranes of different sizes to help in emergencies.
Indian Railways is upgrading its Accident Relief Medical Vans (ARMVs) by replacing them with Self-Propelled Accident Relief Medical Vans (SPARMVs). This change will help improve response times during emergencies.
The specifications for high-speed Self Propelled Accident Relief Trains (HS-SPARTs), which can travel at 160 km/h have been finalised. (Images: Freepik)
