Islamabad, Nov 13: Amid reports that President Pervez Musharraf would once again be visiting the United States shortly, Pakistan announced that its Foreign Secretary, Riaz Khokhar, would go on a two-day visit to Washington today to hold talks with US officials.
Khokhar would be in Washington for two days from November 13 to discuss bilateral as well as issues of mutual interest with top officials there, official media reported here.
Referring to the reports of Khokhar's visit, Pakistan foreign office spokesman Masood Khan said that the Foreign Secretary would be going to New York on November 9 to attend the UN General Assembly proceedings and would later go to Washington on November 13.
This would be Khokhar's second visit to the US in as many months and the third this year.
Khokhar accompanied President Musharraf to New York when the Pakistan President went there to attend the UN General Assembly in September this year. He then proceeded to Washington to assist Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali during his tour which took place in the first week of October.
The announcement about Pakistan Foreign Secretary's visit to US later this month followed speculation that Musharraf would himself visit Washington to make his third trip to the United States this year. While reports in Pakistan media said that Musharraf could be visiting US once again, Pakistan foreign officials said that it could be a possibility.
