Jalandhar, Feb 16: Former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral's son Naresh Kumar has joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to contest the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat for the party in the next general elections. A SAD spokesman told newspersons here today that Naresh Gujral had enrolled himself as an active SAD member formally in the party state headquarters in Chandigarh on February 12.

Subsequently, SAD president former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had announced Naresh Gujral's name as the party candidate on the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat in Chandigarh yesterday.
Naresh Gujral today participated in the SAD rally in Ludhiana and would participate in the inauguration of the party state election office and media centre for the Lok Sabha elections, in Jalandhar tomorrow. The party president Prakash Singh Badal would inaugurate the office.
The Jalandhar seat was held by Former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral twice in 1989 and 1998.
