Somnath (Guj), Oct 31: Union Tourism Minister Jagmohan today said tourism would be developed in a way so that India's rich cultural "patriotism" was revived. Jagmohan, who inaugurated the first-ever sound and light show at the famous Somnath temple in Junagadh district of western Gujarat, gave details of the elaborate plans of central government to develop 33 hubs of cultural and religious tourism all over the country, including several in Gujarat.

"Centre also has massive plans to develop several other "sub-hubs" of tourism in Gujarat like Dholavira, Lothal ruins, Dwarka and Bhalka Teerth," he said. Talking about Somnath and his vision to convert it into a pulsating hub for tourists, Jagmohan said apart from sound and light show, the beach and nearby areas would be developed.

Speaking on Ayodhya, he said no tourism development was being done near the disputed site but a seven-km walk along the Saryu river was being planned along with a sound and light show near the Ram Ki Pedhi for which money is sanctioned.

Speaking on the occasion, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi lamented that "talking about culture is being considered a sin by people" and called for cultural introspection. "Earlier, culture was being destroyed by swords, today same is done by pen," he said, apparently hitting out at media.

Leaders also paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 129th birth anniversary. Patel had spearheaded the cause of reviving this Shiv Temple.
