Pune, July 04: A suspected sharpshooter of Chhota Rajan gang, who was arrested by police in connection with the murder of a city corporator, was today remanded to police custody till July 14. Seeking remand of Vijay Harishchandra Potdar alias Potya, accused of murdering BJP corporator Satish Misal, the public prosecutor urged for custody on the ground that eight of the accused were wanted in the case and that a detailed interrogation could reveal their whereabouts.
The accused was produced before the court of judicial magistrate first class M V Kurtadikar. Potdar is accused of murdering BJP corporator and working president of Vidya Cooperative Bank Satish Misal on February 20 last. This is the second arrest in the case.
Three months back a youth from Raigad district was arrested. Misal was shot at by unidentified gunmen in a jeep, who stopped his car at the busy Puram Chowk on Tilak Road.
He succumbed to his injuries on March 13 while undergoing treatment at a city hospital. His driver had also sustained injuries in the incident.
