Peshawar, July 29: Authorities in northern Pakistan today rounded up 22 people over two bomb blasts in the past 48 hours which killed two people and injured a dozen others in the remote tribal region near the Afghanistan border, officials said. "We have arrested 22 suspects from various places for involvement in the bomb blasts," tribal administration official Fida Mohammad told a news agency.

"The suspects are being questioned to determine the motive behind the blasts," he said. "Most of the arrests were made in raids at the local hotels," witness Ghulam Murtaza told a news agency by telephone, adding the majority of the detainees were Afghans.

A bomb exploded at a bus terminal in the town of Miran Shah in north Waziristan region on Sunday, injuring eight people. Officials said a security pickup vehicle was destroyed by a bomb placed under it in the town, 220 km southwest of Peshawar. A second bomb planted in a house killed two people and injured four in Saidgai village in north Waziristan on Monday.
