New Delhi, Nov 26: Samata Party, an ally of the BJP at the Centre, today made a scathing attack in the Lok Sabha on the functioning of the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh and joined the opposition in demanding a special session of the state assembly for the beleaguered BSP-BJP coalition to prove majority. " The UP MLAs are demanding a special session.....it should be convened and the government should prove its majority", Samata Party member Prabhu Nath Singh said participating in the discussion on the Uttar Pradesh situation.
Stating that whatever was happening in UP was "not proper", he said the Chief Minister was behaving like a "Maharani" (empress).
Suggesting that the BSP-BJP alliance was not a natural one, he said the politics of power makes strange bedfellows as BSP was once known for attacking the BJP and the politics it practised. Assailing the Chief Minister for "targeting" controversial independent MLA Raja Bhaiyya, he said the MLA was an "honest" man as long as he supported Mayawati government. "Governments don`t run on repression".
He warned that if Rajputs and Yadavs come together in the state politics, "others will not be able to even reach the voting booths".
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker P M Sayeed announced that Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani would reply to the debate on Nov 28. Bureau Report
