Paris, July 03: Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon was in Paris yesterday in a bid to close a deal on Paris St Germain's Brazil World Cup star Ronaldinho.
United are keen to upstage David Beckham's spectacular unveiling at Real Madrid.
However, media reports here said United were prepared to walk away if PSG president Francis Graille sticks to his demand for 45 million euros (52 million dollars) for the player. United were reported to have offered 24 million dollars.
"Kenyon has come to close the deal today. We'll know one way or the other if Ronaldinho is going to Manchester," PSG club sources said.
Graille's demands were regarded as last-minute tactics to increase the fee. Ronaldinho's brother and agent Robert Assis said he has agreed a five year contract worth 70,000-euros-a-week.
Graille claims Real Madrid are prepared to pay 35 million euros and leave the player in Paris for a year.
But Graille has yet to meet Real president Florentino Perez and the Paris club was to face the French League financial watchdog yesterday to explain how it proposes dealing with debts its major shareholder, Canal Plus TV, puts at 160 million euros.
