New Delhi, June 09: Chief of banned militant outfit Ulfa, Paresh Barua, reportedly survived an attempt on his life in Bangladesh recently when some unidentified persons fired at him. Sources quoting reports reaching from Bangladesh said that three men, believed to be from a rival group, carried out the attack at his residence at Dhan Mandi in Dhaka last week.

However, Barua survived the attack and was stated to be safe, the sources said.

Ulfa, operating in the North East, specially Assam, has been banned by the government.
