Madurai, July 25: TMC leader G K Vasan today requested PMK leader Dr Ramdoss not to talk about the bifurcation of Tamil Nadu as, he said, the people of the state did not like the idea.
He told reporters here that after the creation of states based on languages there was no need to talk about further bifurcation. "People think the suggestion is not a good one and do not like it. It is better the man who mooted the idea should put an end to it and stop talking about it,” he said.
Stating that the fall in the price of tea was causing immense sufferings to the estate owners and workers, he requested the government to arrest the fall of price and ensure fair price for small and medium growers. He also wanted the government to take steps on a war footing to provide drinking water for the water starved southern districts.
The TMC leader, who had been meeting the cadres in various districts to mobilise them for the party's merger with Congress in a function to be held here on August 16, said, "We are making arrangements to make the function a massive one.” To a question he said that the merger had blessings of the people and all the ex-leaders of the Congress, as its main objective and motive was to bring 'Kamaraj regime' in the state.
