Diphu, Assam, Nov 30: The ethnic cauldron continued to simmer in Assam as at least eight karbis, including three women and a child, were massacred and several others injured by suspected Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) ultras in villages in Karbi-Anglong District. The Kukis torched more than 100 houses in villages near north west of Bokajan police station in the district killing the Karbis including a pregnant woman.
The authorities have sought the help of army while security forces have already been deployed there to deal with the situation.
Police informed that about 1,000 Karbi people had also been shifted to temporary relief camps.
According to a report, a large number of KRA militants with sophisticated weapons attacked a large area consisting of more than seven Karbi-dominated villages.
