New Delhi, Aug 11: The Delhi High Court today asked film actor and Samajwadi Party MP Raj Babbar to give an undertaking that he would not "break the law" in future so as to "enable" it to consider his plea for quashing of an FIR relating to a March towards prime minister's residence here three years ago. During hearing of Babbar's petition for quashing of the case of rioting, Justice J D Kapoor told his counsel Vipul Maheshwari that the court was ready to consider his plea provided he gave an undertaking that he would not indulge in such things in future. "Let him come and give an undertaking to this effect. I will certainly consider his plea", Justice Kapoor said. Additional public prosecutor V K Malik, who opposed Maheshwari's plea, wanted the Samajwadi Party MP to apologise for the incident. The incident dates back to May nine, 2000 when Babbar led a demonstration of party workers towards the prime minister's residence against water shortage and other civic problems in his constituency - Arga.
The demonstration allegedly turned violent and the party workers broke a barricade near teen Murti leading to a clash with police personnel.
