Hyderabad, May 11: Chief ministerial prospect in Andhra Pradesh Y S Rajshekar Reddy today said it will be the Congress high command which will decide whether its ally TRS would share power and also on issues like separate Telengana and who the chief minister will be. An elated Reddy, who spearheaded the party campaign against the Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP government, said, "The Congress Legislature Party will meet and decide on the chief ministership, not me. The high command will give proper guidance for it."
He was replying to a question whether he would be the next chief minister of Andhra Pradesh where Congress is headed for a majority on its own in 294-member assembly.
Asked about the separate Telengana state demand of its ally Telengana Rastra Samiti, he said, "All these things will be decided by the high command. We will have to wait for some more time."
To a question whether he was backtracking on the issue, he said "I am not. Nothing has been decided, we have to sit and discuss."
When told that senior leader Gulam Nabi Azad has said that Telengana was not an immediate priority for the party, Reddy said, "The issue will be decided by the high command."
Reddy said the party expected the Congress-led alliance to get about 220 seats in 294-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly, surpassing even exit poll results.
He said the Congress legislature party would meet tomorrow or in next 2-3 days and decide who would be the next chief minister of the state.
On whether Congress victory was due to anti-incumbency factor against ruling TDP, Reddy agreed but said it was also due to the confidence of the electorate in the leadership of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
