B`desh Opposition leader gunned down in Bangladesh
Dhaka, Aug 27: A leader of Bangladesh`s main Opposition party Awami League has been gunned down in the capital a day after another leader was killed by unidentified gunmen.

Sharif Mozammel Haq, was killed here last night near
Awami League central office by unknown assailants. Sharif,
general secretary of al in one of the wards of Dhaka city was
sprayed with several rounds of gun shots as he emerged from a
restaurant soon after leaving the party's central office at
Bangabandhu avenue.
Sharif was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.
Panic gripped central Dhaka and party leaders assembled at Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the body was being kept as the news of his death spread.
Supporters of Awami League went on a rampage and broke today and damaged several vehicles, shops and other establishments to vent their anger. They also set a passenger bus afire at Gulistan area, the city centre.
Lawyer Monjurul Iman, president of Khulna Awami League and a member of the party's central advisory council was also shot at close range as he was leaving his home for a local court on Monday. Meanwhile, Bijon Biharo Mondol, the lawyer who was injured when a hail of bullets were fired at imam succumbed to his injuries last night.
