Tamil Nadu police has arrested a key accused in the Madurai
Meenakshi Amman temple blast case, CBI said here today.
Venkatesh alias Mustafa alias Sheikh Dawood was arrested
last week in Delhi and was taken to Madurai after obtaining a
transit remand from a Delhi court, a CBI spokesman said.
The accused was produced before the chief judicial
magistrate, Madurai and was remanded to 15 days judicial
custody, he said.
Venkatesh, who was arrested immediately after the
shocking bomb blast inside the temple premises, had escaped
from judicial custody in 1997 while being transported from
Vellore central jail to Madurai.
