Gwalior, Nov 04: Madhya Pradesh High Court today granted anticipatory bail to expelled bsp leader and president of Samata Samaj Party Phool Singh Baraiyya, who is virtually underground since charges of theft of poll-related documents were levelled against him by the BSP. Granting him bail, Justice Umanath Singh of High Court bench here observed that prima facie no case was made out against Baraiyya in the absence of direct evidence regarding alleged theft of election-related documents from BSP office. The court took note of the argument put forward by Baraiyya's counsel that BSP supremo Mayawati herself was reportedly distributing authority letters to party candidates and hence complaints of theft of these papers against the expelled leader had no meaning. Last week, additional district judge A C Shukla had rejected the bail application of Baraiyya saying it may be difficult to recover the' B Forms', alleged to have been stolen from BSP office here.
