Kolkata, July 10: Ace motorcyclists Sanjay Arya and Yogesh Gupta are planning a trip to SAARC countries, beginning mid-February next year to spread the message of peace and good neighbourly relations.
The duo, who emerged regional champions in Eastern India last year, would embark on their tour from Kolkata, visiting Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, and reach out to the common people in the neighbouring countries.
"There has been lot of discord among the countries of the region. So, during our journey we will emphasise the need for peaceful co-existence and harmonious relationship which will also give a boost to inter-SAARC trade," he said.
In the first leg of the trip, Arya and Gupta would endeavour to go to Pakistan through the Wagah border and travel as far as Lahore, provided they got the necessary clearances.
Completing the Pakistan lap in five day, the two motorcyclists would return to Kolkata and then leave for Nepal through Raxaul.
Arya and Gupta propose to finish the first two legs within a month and then start afresh from Kolkata after a brief rest for Bangladesh and Bhutan.
"We have already applied for the necessary clearances and the matter is under process. We are also looking for sponsors," he added.
