New Delhi, Nov 18: With a view to feed the capacity
requirements for its mega business process outsourcing (BPO)
infrastructure venture in Bangalore, Data Access today said it
plans to participate in a new USD 100 million undersea
cable project between India and Middle East.
"The agreement of partnership is already in place with a
Saudi company and a Bahrain company, so there will be at least
three companies in the project. We will be a minority
partner," Siddhartha Ray, managing director of Data Access
told reporters on the sidelines of a conference here.
Ray said that the total investment for the India-Bahrain-muscat cable venture is estimated at about USD 100 million.
"The shareholding of various partners is yet to be firmed up," he said adding that the basic project feasibility had already been done.
Ray said Data Access' participation in the undersea cable project would be through a subsidiary company and added that the cable is scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2005.
"We will have captive requirement for our Rs 2000 crore BPO infrastructure project and hence participation in the cable venture makes business sense," he said.
