New Delhi, July 19: Delhi Police have arrested a Pakistani national who had come to India with fake Indian currency and was staying illegally here. Mohammad Sulaiman, arrested from Matia Mahal area of walled city on a tip-off, is being deported back to Pakistan.

Sulaiman, 52, a resident of Rahimyar Khan district in Pakistan, was staying in the capital without valid passport and visa, deputy commissioner of police (special cell) Ashok Chand said.

Pakistani disclosed during interrogation that he had come to India by the Samjhauta Express on March 15 last year with Rs 23,000 counterfeit Indian currency in Rs 100 denomination. The currency was detected at Attari border and he was arrested and jailed, Chand said, adding he was released on April 11 this year.

Subsequently, he came to Delhi and took up residence in the walled city area.

Orders for his deportation have been obtained and he is being sent back, Chand said.
