Chandigarh, Aug 2: Kaimbwala will become the first police- free model village of the country following the decision of the Chandigarh administration to remove the police post and motivate villagers to do self policing and self governance through the panchayat. Kaimbwala is one of the 18 villages of Chandigarh situated in the picturesque locales of the foothills of Shivaliks, pre-dominantly populated by Gujjars. Chandigarh administration has decided to develop it as a model village,an official spokesma said here today.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Punjab Governor and administrator, union territory, Chandigarh, o p Verma to finalise the "development plan" of this model village.

Verma gave his approval to Rs.4.5 crore action plan for developing Kaimbwala as model village. Bureau Report
