Lucknow, Oct 11: Terming the findings of the panel
constituted by Railway Minister Nitish Kumar to probe into
September 28 stampede at the railway station here as an
"eyewash", Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said it
was an attempt to coverup the failure of the railways.
"The report of the three-member committee is just an
eyewash to save the railways which failed to make adequate
arrangements to deal with the rush of people who converged at
the railway station after the BSP's 'dhikkar' rally," she told
reporters here.
"In the past too, the inquiries conducted by the railways
into different mishaps had been attempts to pass on their
responsibility to others and the recent Rajdhani Express
mishap in Bihar as an example for this," Mayawati alleged.
