Allahabad, June 22: Uttar Pradesh government today suspended ten excise inspectors for alleged dereliction of duty and misappropriation of revenue, state excise commissioner Ganga Deen Yadav said.
The officials were allegedly responsible for the shortfall in revenue generation, Yadav told reporters, adding several senior officials of the excise department have also been reprimanded for laxity in collection of revenue from their jurisdiction.
Yadav said collection of excise revenue has been depleting from these districts over past several months due to the nexus between suspended officials and liquor dealers, who were selling foreign and Indian liquor of last year's quota even as shop owners were bound to pay revenue to the state government against this year's quota. The suspended excise inspectors are Pribal Prasad Mawik (Allahabad), Brajendra Singh (Aligarh), R S Gupta (Sant Ravidas Nagar), R N Yadav (Eta), M A Jammeel (Lakhimpur Kheri), A K Bharatiya (Sitapur), Suresh Kumar (Mainpuri), Tulsiram Vaishya (Faizabad), Jagjivan Prasad (Ratehpur) and Manoj Kumar (Sitapur) have been suspended with immediate effect. Bureau Report
