New Delhi, Oct 31: Backing India's initiative, a key UN committee has adopted a resolution sponsored by it calling upon member-states to support international efforts to prevent terrorists from acquiring weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery. The resolution, which received the support of ten other countries including France, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius and Sri Lanka, was adopted by the first committee of the UN on October 29, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said today. It would now go to the UN General Assembly where it would adopted at the end of the session, he said, adding it would form part of the resolutions accepted by the world body for this year.
