Soz demands international status for Srinagar airport
Srinagar, Oct 14: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz today demanded that Srinagar airport be declared an international airport.
Srinagar, Oct 14: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz today demanded that Srinagar airport be declared an international airport.
The demand was raised by Soz during a meeting with civil aviation minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy in New Delhi today.
Soz, a Rajya Sabha member from the state, in a statement on his arrival here said he discussed threadbare the proposals regarding arrangements for organizing direct flights to Gulf region such as Jeddah, Riyadh, Dubai, Bahrain, Mascut, Sharjah and Tehran from Srinagar with the minister.
He said that Srinagar airport has all the facilities needed for an international airport.
Soz said that the minister assured him that he would soon look into the demand.
