New Delhi, June 23: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today preferred a court verdict for resolution of the vexed Ayodhya issue, but said that she has no objection to evolving a consensus in the matter.
"I am not for out of court settlement. Whatever the court decides, her government will implement,” she said at a press conference but later made it clear that she has no objection to arriving at a consensus.
Replying to a question as to what has been the formula evolved by Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi to resolve the matter and whether she has been involved in the efforts, she said that she was not aware of anything.
"Let everything first get finalised. We are not against evolving a consensus,” she said in reply to a question about the mediation efforts by the Sankaracharya.
"Our party and government will abide by the verdict of the court,” she said in reply to another question.
Mayawati's comments came a day after the Sankaracharya expressed confidence that a solution to the vexed Ayodhya issue would be found by July 6 when the All India Muslim Personal Law Board meets to discuss and take a decision on his proposals
