Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh on Tuesday expelled three leaders, including a former legislator, from the primary membership of the party for six years for their alleged anti-party activities.
With this, the total number of those expelled from the Congress since electioneering picked up momentum in the state in the last fortnight has gone up to 30.
Those who were expelled on Tuesday are former MLA Ranjit Singh Waryam Nangal (Majitha), Sajida Begum (Malerkotla) and Desh Bandhu Sharma (Kapurthala), a party spokesperson said, adding they were expelled following their opposition to the official candidates of the party in some constituencies.
The spokesperson reiterated that the persons who have left the party during elections or have been working against the official party candidates will not be re-admitted to the party under any circumstances.
