Colombo, Nov 06: Sri Lanka President Chandrika Kumaratunga today assured that the state of emergency will be a "very short period of time" as there was mounting international concern over the political crisis here. The finance ministry in a statement said that the President wanted them to inform Sri Lankan missions abroad that the emergency would be lifted soon.
She also wanted missions abroad to be told that the situation in the country was normal.
Meanwhile, Japan today expressed its "apprehensions over the current developments in Sri Lanka, including the issuing of the state of emergency". Bureau Report
