Kolkata, Mar 11: A high-power delegation from the Union Home Ministry will undertake a three-day visit to West Bengal including the border districts of Coochbehar and Murshidabad from today to take stock of the situation arising out of the problems of infiltration and trans-border crimes. Left Front MP, Debabrata Biswas told reporters here today that the Deputy Prime Minister, L K Advani had agreed to send a delegation of Home Ministry officials following his recent discussions with the Left MPs which gave a deputation to him in the capital.
Biswas said that Home Ministry delegation comprising the director-general of BSF Ajay Raj Sharma and a senior Home Ministry official would reach Coochbihar district today0. From there they would go to Murshidabad tomorrow before arriving here for holding talks with the senior officials of the state government.
He said that delegation of the Left MPs, headed by CPI(M) leader Somnath Chatterjee during their talks with Advani, pointed out BSF "excesses" on genuine Indian citizens living along the border areas while taking measures to push-in infiltrators and various forms of trans-border crimes.
The Home Ministry delegation would be apprised of the matter during their visit, Biswas who is the general secretary of All-India Forward Bloc said. Bureau Report
