US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld will meet the military commander of the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance, General Mohammad Qasim Fahim, when he visits Tajikistan in the next few days, an Afghan opposition diplomat said Friday.
The diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity, gave no further details.
Rumsfeld arrives in Moscow early on Saturday and leaves later the same day to visit the former Soviet republics of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, both states which border Afghanistan, though no firm details have been provided regarding the official's itinerary.
