New Delhi, July 19: Show cause notices have been issued by the Enforcement Directorate under FERA to seven actors and companies including ABCL and Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Govinda and Salman Khan, Lok Sabha was informed on Friday.

The notice to ABCL/Amitabh Bachchan involves alleged FERA violation of $6,00,000, while it is Rs 50 lakh for Shahrukh Khan, Rs 41.5 lakh for Govinda and Rs 28 lakh in the case of Salman Khan and others, Minister of State for Finance Gingee N Ramachandran said in a written answer. Notices have also been issued to Manisha Koirala and Boby Khan (for Rs 22 lakh each) and Anas Film for $10,000, he said.

Currency: Government does not propose to introduce plastic currency as printing trials and laboratory tests have determined that polymer substrate has a number of deficiencies and is not suitable for printing of Indian bank notes, Minister of State for Finance Anant Geete said. Hawala: The Enforcement Directorate has detected seven cases of hawala transactions in the last three years, Ramachandran said.

Action has been taken against the accused persons in all cases under FERA and FEMA by launching prosecutions or issuing show cause notices, he said, adding the Directorate has been alerted to be more vigilant about these types of hawala operators. Rs 8.25 crore has been found to be involved in hawala cases in 44 searches conducted from July 2001 to June 2002 against hawala dealers under FEMA, he said. Bureau Report
