New Delhi, June 24: The south-west monsoon has advanced to cover some more parts of east Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh even as rainfall activity today enhanced over interior parts of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, Indian Meteorological Department officials said. "Heavy to very heavy rains were received along the west coast and the rainfall activity has now extended to interior parts of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, where it was not so good earlier," Dr Onkari Prasad of IMD said.
Moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded in several areas such as eastern Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, he said adding the monsoon had covered the whole of Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar and several parts of Maharashtra, west UP and MP. Stating that "things are progressing well" he said monsoon was likely to reach Delhi around June 29.
"Arrival of the monsoon in Delhi depends on various factors, including rainfall activity in other areas where monsoon has already reached," he said.
Humidity level in the capital has gone upto 80 per cent and pre-monsoon showers are likely in the next 24 hours, director IMD, Dr R D Singh said. Bureau Report
