Increasing popularity of e-greetings and short-message-service (SMS) on mobile phones has brought down Archies’ greeting card sales by 14 per cent, resulting in a drop in net profit by 17.6 per cent in 2001-02. Realising the downtrend in this particular segment, Archies immediately expan-ded its product portfolio introducing new products like perfumes, stationery, jewellery and gift items. This enabled the company to increase sales turnover from Rs 68.15 crore in 2000-01 to Rs 80.47 crore in 2001-02.
