New Delhi, July 16: Cricket board's umpires committee has shortlisted 40 umpires to officiate in major domestic matches from the forthcoming season. The committee, which met in Solan yesterday, selected the 40 umpires out of the 132 who are currently on the panel on the basis of their performance in the last four years.

These umpires will supervise major domestic tournaments like Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy, Challenger Series, Irani Trophy and Ranji Trophy senior division matches while the remaining umpires will officiate in Ranji Trophy junior division matches and other junior tournaments. The committee, chaired by board's vice-president C K Khanna, also recommended that retirement age of umpires should be fixed at 55 years for Ranji Trophy panel and 58 years for those who have done field umpiring in Tests and one-day internationals.

The committee decided to hold the annual umpires seminar in New Delhi though no date has been fixed. Bureau Report
