New Delhi, Aug 29: Senior Congress leader Anil
Shastri today assailed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha's
remarks on the foreign origin of AICC president Sonia Gandhi
saying it showed "contempt" of supreme court which had ruled
that Gandhi was an Indian citizen.
"I am aghast at Jayalalitha's diatribe against our leader
Congress President Sonia Gandhi....By her unwarranted
utterances, Jayalalitha has shown contempt of Supreme Court,
which had ruled that Gandhi was a Indian citizen", Shastri, an
AICC Secretary, said in a statement.
Describing Jayalalithaa as "inconsistent and unpredictable", Shastri said it was "Unimaginable that a person holding a high office of Chief Minister would stoop to endear herself to the BJP government at the Centre".
"If she thinks that the BJP is going to help her in court cases, Jayalalitha is in for a great disappointment," he said.

Jayalalitha saw nothing wrong in entering into an alliance
with Congress during assembly elections in Tamil Nadu last
year, neither she rejected the support of the party when BJP
was about to sack her after she arrested a central minister
and police manhandled DMK chief and former Chief Minister M
Karunanidhi, Shastri said.
In another statement, two secretaries V Hanumantha
Rao and Daljit Singh also condemned Jayalalitha's tirade
against Gandhi saying it was "against feelings of millions of
party workers across the country".
