New Delhi, Aug 12: State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has not accepted its employees' union's demand for Rs 25 lakh compensation and a job to the dependants of those who died in yesterday's helicopter crash in the Arabian Sea. "The talks are continuing. We had one round of discussion (with the employees' union) this morning and will meet again shortly. So far, their demands have not been accepted," a senior ONGC official said from Mumbai. ONGC has constituted a negotiating team of company directors to deal with the union, which has threatened to go on strike from 6 am tomorrow. "All possible is being done to avert the strike," the official, who did not want to be named, said while emphasising that the talks have not failed.

"We are continuing discussion and a solution will emerge by evening," he said.

The employees union is demanding Rs 25 lakh compensation and job to the dependant of those killed in yesterday's helicopter crash, besides a review of the safety measures at all offshore installations and sorties to carry personnel.
