June 30: The longest day of summer was drawing close and the excitement was unbearable. I had been waiting over a year for this book. Finally the awaited day came. I got a funny feeling in my molars when I held my copy of the book. ‘‘The hottest day of the summer so far was drawing to a close ...’’, it began. The wait was worth it. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is action-packed. You Know Who is back and stronger than ever. The struggle between Harry and the evil Lord Voldemort continues. The action starts when Dementors come to Privet Drive and it does not slow down. Harry is back at Hogwarts, now in his fifth year. Ron and Hermione are prefects, but so is Harry’s rival, Draco Malfoy. There is yet another Defence against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Dolores Umbridge, from the Ministry of Magic. She is also a High Inquisitor, and can dismiss anyone from their jobs. She is the meanest teacher Harry has ever had — her detention involves writing lines, but with your own blood! Not that she teaches Defence properly either. So Harry and others form a club called “DA” to teach each other Defence. Can you believe that Neville Longbottom is good at spells? Professor Umbridge bans all clubs, and soon Harry is caught and disallowed from playing Quidditch. Professor Dumbledore and Professor Trelawney are dismissed and Umbridge takes over. Meanwhile Hagrid has travelled to the mountains to make peace with the Giants.
