UP govt declares 20 districts as flood-hit
Lucknow, Sept 15: Uttar Pradesh government today declared 20 of the 71 districts in the state as flood-hit with at least 190 people losing their lives there in related incidents and decided to seek central assistance to tide over the calamity.

The state government will write to the Centre to send its
inspection team at the earliest to review the flood situation,
chief secretary Akhand Pratap Singh told reporters here after
a Cabinet meeting.
He said the flood-hit districts are: Gorakhpur, Khiri, Bahraich, Basti, Ballia, Sidharthnagar, Azamgarh, Mau, Ghazipur, Banda, Jhansi, Unnao, Allahabad, Varanasi, Kanpur Dehat, Farukhabad, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Aligarh and Chandauli.
The chief secretary said so far 190 people had died in the flood-affected districts with over 10 lakh hectare agricultural land inundated and over 20,000 houses damaged.
He said the flood-hit districts are: Gorakhpur, Khiri, Bahraich, Basti, Ballia, Sidharthnagar, Azamgarh, Mau, Ghazipur, Banda, Jhansi, Unnao, Allahabad, Varanasi, Kanpur Dehat, Farukhabad, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Aligarh and Chandauli.
