Mumbai, May 30: Larsen & Toubro will invest Rs 75 crore to improve working of its cement manufacturing units in the current fiscal even as the company is to look at integrating Narmada Cement as part of scheme for this business. "We will have to invest in the segment on continous basis for improvement in business like through changes in software at plants and products," L&T board member and cement businss head JP Nayak told reporters here on Thursday.
The company is also planning to revamp mine operations for lime at Awarpur cement works, Nayak said, adding total production capacity is expected to touch 17 million shortly.
Asked about the evaluation by rating agency Icra on the restructuring of cement business, Nayak said, "They made a presentation to the board last week and we have raised queries.”
He, however, declined to give any timeframe for restructuring including demerger plans. Bureau Report
