SC to hear Nakkeeran editor Gopal`s plea
New Delhi, June 05: The Supreme Court will today hear a petition filed by the editor of weekly magazine `Nakkeeran` seeking transfer of the probe into cases against him from the Tamil Nadu Police to CBI.

A vacation bench comprising Justice N Santosh Hegde And Justice Shivaraj V Patil had earlier given time till today to the counsel for the Tamil Nadu government to take instructions on the case.
The editor of Nakkeeran Gopal alleged that he had been made a victim of the vendetta of the Tamil Nadu government and all old cases were dug out to frame him. Senior advocate T R Andhyarujina, appearing for the editor, said a case pertaining to a missing man has been converted into a murder case and his client has been arrested in that based on a confession given by a persons five years after the registration of the case.
He said in the same case first sedition charges were invoked and later Pota and requested the court to transfer the probe in the case from the Tamil Nadu Police to CBI. The counsel requested the court that during the pendency of the petition, the state police should be restrained from filing a chargesheet though it could be allowed to continue with the probe.
