Raipur, Dec 07: Raman Singh today took oath as the new Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh after his party had a landslide victory in the assembly polls.
He took the oath of office and secrecy from state Governor Lieutenant General K M Seth in a ceremony here in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister L K Advani and other senior leaders.
Dr Singh`s council of ministers will be sworn in at a later date, which is yet to be finalised.
Among other important leaders present at the occasion some noteworthy names is as follows: BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh, Labour Minister Sahib Singh Verma, Minister of State for Mines Ramesh Bais, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, senior party functionaries and a large number of party workers were among those present at the ceremony.
Former Union minister and state NCP president V C Shukla, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shyama Charan Shukla were also present.
Dr Singh, who is president of the state party unit, was elected as the leader of the 50-member BJP Legislature Party on December 05 after the party wrested power from the Congress in the December 01 assembly elections.
