New Delhi, June 21: The CBI has arrested a Delhi Development Authority official for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a person for getting his work done, the agency said today.
Sushil Bhardwaj, a dealing assistant working with the housing wing of DDA, was arrested by the anti-corruption branch of the CBI following a complaint by a person who alleged that Rs 8,000 was demanded from him by the accused for converting his property from lease-hold to free-hold, the agency said in a release. It said when the complainant expressed his inability to pay the money, the official reduced his demand to Rs 3,000.
Following the complaint, the agency sleuths laid a trap to catch the official red-handed while accepting the bribe, it said adding during a search at his residence, cash to the tune of Rs 25,000 along with certain related documents was recovered. A city court has since remanded the accused to judicial custody till July 2, the release added. Bureau Report
