Vast potential for medicinal plants in J&K, says minister
Srinagar, Oct 13: In view of the vast potential of Jammu and Kashmir in the area of medicinal and aromatic plants the next global summit on medicinal plants would be held in the state, Minister for Health Choudhary Lal Singh has said.

"Jammu and Kashmir is not only rich in medicinal plants, but it has a monopoly on some of the species that are used for manufacturing high quality medicine," Singh said at a Congress
workers meet here last evening, adding the next global summit on the subject would be held in the state.
The minister called for coordinated efforts of various agencies, growers and the user industry to pool their expertise, resources and efforts for better results. "It would help in bringing the state economy back on the rails and generating employment opportunities for the youth, Singh added.
Social activists had a greater role in bringing about socio-economic transformation, the minister said adding we should go in for self introspection to evaluate our contribution to the society.
