New Delhi, June 05: Delhi BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar, who has been demanding action against the station commander of Delhi Cantonment, Brig S K Uppal, for allegedly misusing his powers, ended his 72-hour hunger strike after assurances by Defence Minister George Fernandes that his demands would be met.
Tanwar was protesting against the adoption of "dictatorial and anti-public" attitude by the Army official with the connivance of local Congress MLA towards residents in the area with an aim of defaming the BJP and the Centre.
Tanwar said Fernandes had assured him that water and electricity connections would be restored to the JJ clusters, demolished temples would be reallocated and all roads of the Cantonment would be reopened for the public.
Any Army officer found violating these norms would be dealt with accordingly, a statement issued by Tanwar said here.
