Multan (Pakistan), Sept 08: Bangladesh are hoping for their first one-day win in four years when they take on Pakistan in the first of five one-day matches in the ancient city of Multan in central Pakistan tomorrow.
The tourists, who lost the test series 3-0 last week, won
their last one-day international against Pakistan in the 1999
World Cup in England. They have since lost 37 of their 39
limited over internationals with rained off matches.
"But after the tour of Australia last month and the test series against Pakistan we have improved a lot."
Bangladesh's 62-run upset win over Pakistan at Northampton in the 1999 World Cup became controversial as the Pakistani players were accused of throwing the match for money.
"It is four years now and in a one-day there is no draw like test, so you must go for a win," said Mahmud.
Apart from the win over Pakistan four years ago, Bangladesh have won only two one-day internationals - against Scotland at Edinburgh in the 1999 World Cup and a six wicket victory against Kenya at Hyderabad, India in 1998-99.
Pakistan have pledged to win the one-day series for captain Rashid Latif, who was banned for five one-day matches after claiming a controversial catch in last week's Multan Test. Bureau Report
