Reddy said Pandya's father has stated publicly that Modi was "involved" in the murder and the real killers would not be brought to book till Modi was in power.
Amidst strong protests by BJP members especially those from Gujarat, Madhusudan Mistri (Congress) said "it was a political murder. There should be an inquiry by a house committee".

Raising the issue during zero hour, Lok Janshakti leader Ram Vilas Pawan alleged that "real culprits" behind Pandya's murder earlier this year were going scot-free and that security had not been provided by the Gujarat government to him despite threat to his life.
Countering the opposition charge, Jayaben Thakkar and other BJP members said several persons have been taken into custody in connection with Pandya's murder.
