New Delhi, July 25: Opposition and BJP benches today clashed in the Lok Sabha after Congress member S. Jaipal Reddy alleged that a fair probe into the killing of former Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya could not be conducted so long as Narendra Modi was the chief minister. Reddy said Pandya's father has stated publicly that Modi was "involved" in the murder and the real killers would not be brought to book till Modi was in power.
Amidst strong protests by BJP members especially those from Gujarat, Madhusudan Mistri (Congress) said "it was a political murder. There should be an inquiry by a house committee".

Raising the issue during zero hour, Lok Janshakti leader Ram Vilas Pawan alleged that "real culprits" behind Pandya's murder earlier this year were going scot-free and that security had not been provided by the Gujarat government to him despite threat to his life.
Countering the opposition charge, Jayaben Thakkar and other BJP members said several persons have been taken into custody in connection with Pandya's murder. Bureau Report
