Chief Minister's security advisor K P S Gill on Saturday directed police and civil authorities in Godhra to take stern action against those responsible for precipitating another round of violence in the riot-hit town on Friday night.
"At the end of his visit Gill ordered authorities to take exemplary action against those responsible for Friday night's violence," official sources said. During his four-hour long visit to the riot hit township in Panchmahal district in central Gujarat, Gill had intensive round of discussions with collector Jayanti S Ravi and SP Raju Bhargav among others, they said.
The super cop held separate discussions with leaders of both majority and minority communities and persuaded both sides for a joint meeting where "leaders from both sides shared their respective agony but at the end embraced each other.”
Gill asked leaders from both communities to do everything possible so that there is no recurrence of Friday night's incident.
According to sources Gill said, "It is unfortunate that after a short spell of peace and tranquility, some elements had tried to create tension again."
During the joint meeting, the community leaders also shared Gill's sentiments and said that they were ashamed of what happened on Friday night.
