Imphal, Aug 06: A militant was killed in an encounter with a commando force of state police at Kakching area, about four km south-east of here, in Thoubal district of Manipur today, official sources said. Commandos patrolling the area were attacked by the militants at around 3:00 am. In the ensuing gun-battle, one ultra was killed, the sources said. Police recovered one M-16 rifle, grenade and wireless set from the spot, the sources said.
The identity of the slain militant was not yet known, the sources said.
