New Delhi, May 14: In the wake of a division bench of the Kerala High Court staying for a month the BSNL circular revising basic telecom tariffs effected from May 1, the state-owned telecom corporation today said efforts would be made to get the stay vacated. "We will be approaching the high court soon and efforts would be made to get the stay vacated," BSNL chairman and managing director Prithipal Singh said.
Asked if there would be any change in the existing tariffs in the wake of the latest move, Singh said that the tariffs, which have been announced, are continuing. "Unless we continue billing, on what basis will we charge the customers," he said. The stay order was passed yesterday by Kerala High Court division bench, comprising Justice K Thankappan and Justice J M James, on two public interest litigations filed by two MLAs -- Stephen George and P Narayanan, seeking quashing of the circular and to declare the recently revised tariffs as "unconstitutional."
